Mason Jar Sewing Kit

This homemade gift is perfect for the seamstress in your life! My friend loves to sew, and I wanted to incorporate that into her Christmas gift.

For the materials, I only spent about 5 dollars, with some leftover. I bought the "99 cent fabric cuts" at Walmart in the craft section. For the pin cushion lid, I just covered the pin cushion that came with the pins I bought. I happened to have a jar just lying around my house, but you can find them for 1-2 dollars at Hobby Lobby.

This is a fun gift because you can put whatever you want in the jar! Buttons, thread, materials, measuring tape, or whatever else catches your fancy!

I loosely followed this tutorial as I made mine.

Overall this costs 5-7 dollars to make. It's a sweet gift which is so fun to put together. Putting special effort into making a gift is a great way to make your loved ones feel loved!

A Homemade Christmas

It is my belief that Christmastime is truly the most beautiful time of the year: not only visually, but emotionally as well.  At Christmas, homes and businesses are decked out in holiday ornamentation and there is an overwhelming sense of love and peace.  At such a wonderful time, I find it awfully tedious and silly to worry about getting the best deals on the latest and greatest gifts. It's not necessary to stress out and break the bank in the showing love to loved ones. I've made it my Christmas  mission to create meaningful gifts for my friends and family that they will love just as much as, if not more than, a store-bought gift.  I will be documenting this journey of Christmas-creation here and hope that inspires you to ignore the commercialization and do something truly meaningful with the most wonderful time of the year.
